Zero Km. Death Match Marker. Starting point of the infamous Death March. Located in the town proper, at the edge of Mariveles municipality, near the sea. There is also a memorial with US and Philippines flags. The original road heads to the north following the original death march route. This new marker was erected in 2002.
 Mariveles, which was the starting point of the death march is, now an "economy zone", with foreign investment and industrial development. A two-meter high Death March markers stand every kilometer along the road that runs on the east coast of the peninsula.
Mariveles is a municipality in the province of Bataan. The province is located in west Luzon between Manila Bay and the South China Sea. Bataan is divided into two by a pass that separates the northern and the southern mountains. On the eastern side, there is a narrow coastal plain having some lovely beaches. Historical Corregidor island is 20 minutes travel by Banca Boat from Mariveles.

Location
Mariveles is located in a cove at the southernmost tip of The Bataan Peninsula, 165 kilometers from Manila. It is bounded on the East by Manila Bay and the North Channel which separates it from Corregidor Island. On the South and West it is bounded by South China Sea; on the Northwest by Bagac; and on the North by Limay. By land, it takes two to three-hour drive from the business capital of Manila and Makati via a well-paved road network.
